Living all alone on a island

He was 46 years old when everything changed in his life. The British Brendon Grimshaw was a veteran journalist with a career made in Africa when he realized where he wanted to spend the rest of his days. It all happened on a visit to the Seychelles, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean in 1972. Upon reaching the Moyenne, a deserted island and in the wild, he realized that it was the right place, or where the coconuts fell to the ground because the vegetation was too dense.

"The moment I put my feet here knew that the island was the right place for me," said Simon Reeve, a BBC journalist quoted by the Daily Mail.

The task of making Moyenne at home was not easy and made the British single for a lack of choice. The island, which Brendon bought for 8000 pounds (now almost 10 thousand euros), had nothing. Not only were the basic conditions of life that were missing on the island. The British (and his helper) was also responsible for bringing birds to the island and also turtles.

Today 120 giant tortoises living there whom Brendon assigned numbers that are painted on the shells. Brendon before the company of the turtles did not live all alone. In 1981 Brendon's father accepted his invitation to go live with him."To my surprise he moved to Seaford in Sussex County to be with me when I was 88 years."

Another point is that is uncompromising in maintaining the Moyenne as a semi-wild area: Brendon said to have refused an offer of an Arab prince who gave him a blank check to be the new owner of the island.

"[I felt alone] only once in life - when I was living in a tiny flat in London. I felt miserable there, never here." He quoted, when questioned if he felt alone in the Seychelles.

SmartWatch with Android

Sony launches SmartWatch, a clock with Android

Watches that function as mobile phones are not new, but this time Sony has this "clock" which is a complement to its Android smartphone.

The Sony SmartWatch was presented at CES 2012 but just now hit the market, including the U.S., with a 1.3 inch screen.

The Sony SmartWatch is a clock that comes with an Android modified to work in the clock , but use your smartphone to make the majority of shares. This was to be an integration with your smartphone which will, besides the use of several applications also use the internet.

The clock is to be seen as a remote control of your smartphone. You can see Facebook or Twitter, and read emails and texting. It also serves to know who's calling without having to remove the smartphone's phone and take action on the clock, rejecting and sending a message indicating it is busy.

This clock appears still limited, it runs through the mobile phone, rather than having an independent use, however, may be a good starting terms of being able to function as a watch mobile at the highest level.

The Sony SmartWatch is on sale for $ 150, no release date for the clock in Europe.

Titanic : 100 years since as sank

I leave you guys with some info I found on wikipedia and one video that I   think it's funny, cuz is mocking with the remake in 3D, despite the tragedy that it was.

The Titanic was an Olympic class ocean liner operated by White Star Line and built at the Harland and Wolff shipyards in Belfast, Northern Ireland. On the night of April 14, 1912, during the maiden voyage from Southampton, England, and New York, USA, collided with an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean and sank two hours and forty minutes later, at dawn on 15 April. Until his release in 1912, was the largest passenger ship in the world.

With 2,240 people on board the sinking resulted in the deaths of 1,523 people, ranking it as one of the worst maritime disasters of all time. The Titanic came from some of the most advanced technologies available at the time and was popularly referred to as "unsinkable" - indeed, an advertising brochure from 1910, the White Star Line, on the Titanic, claimed that he was "designed to be unsinkable." It was a great shock to many the fact that, despite the advanced technology and experienced crew, the Titanic has sunk as not only caused great loss of human lives. The frenzy of the media about Titanic's famous victims, the legends about what happened aboard the ship, the resulting changes in maritime law, as well as the discovery of the wreck site in 1985 by a team led by Dr. Robert Ballard made the history of the famous Titanic persists since.

The fascination with the tragic story of the famous ocean liner was demonstrated when viewing the movie "Titanic" by James Cameron. Shown in late 1997 and throughout 1998, the film 194 minutes long, with a record budget of U.S. $ 200 million, won 11 Oscars and delighted audiences around the world, resulting in the biggest box office in the history of cinema, a total of $ 1.9 billion. With the film's success, interest in the Titanic intensified even more, rising hundreds of books, studies, debates and new theories about the cause of the wreck.

I know this is a little late but i couldn't simply not post it. You are still in time to go see it, im sure i will.

Car #1 - Fisker

After tomorrow will be showing new coupe Fisker. This displays lines similar but smaller size than the first model of the Fisker Karma, a sedan of nearly five meters long which is already available in some markets.

The most notable difference is that the Atlantic should be sold for roughly half the price of the Karma. The Atlantic is the result of the Project Nina, who came to be threatened by the U.S. government's refusal to fund the development of the new model because of delays in delivery of the Fisker Karma and problems in A123 System batteries.
This four-door coupe is equipped with a hybrid system with extended-range, known as the Karma but also the Opel Ampera and Chevrolet Volt. Mix a block gasoline (not connected mechanically to the wheels) and 2.0-liter four-cylinder BMW source and an electric motor, which acts as a generator to keep the lithium-ion batteries charged. Inside there is space for four occupants, thanks to a long wheelbase. The car will be rear-wheel drive with four-wheel drive available as an option. The Atlantic, whose conceptshould not now be far off the production version will be built at the former GM plant in Wilmington, Delaware (USA).

Having passed this important milestone the company is now inviting investors to join them in creating the future.

Google unveils Project Glass: futuristic glasses augmented reality

Google yesterday unveiled a project called "Glass Project", which fits very well in that kind of technology you hitherto believed to be a thing of fiction films, but just do not know if it gets too excited or afraid of the future.

The Glass Project is an eye that uses augmented reality, putting in your field of view several features that today we need to make the smartphone, such as viewing reports, navigate through maps, answer calls, among others. Watch the video released on Google + to better understand.

The project is being developed in the laboratory Google [x] and has its front three experts from different field. Babak Parviz, professor from the University of Washington and has done work with lenses of short stories intelligent; Steve Lee works with Google Latitude and new services based on the history of users, and Sebastian Thrun, a professor at Stanford University and the team that developed the Google autonomous car.

The Glass Project is still in early development. Therefore, the more you want to feel like Tony Stark with an interface designed into your helmet titanium alloy with gold, do not expect it to become a real product later this year. For now, he is more a concept than a product.

Ten most dangerous cities for surfing the Net

The city of Manchester, UK, is the most dangerous to surf the Net, according to a study. Amsterdam and Stockholm complete the "podium" of the most dangerous cities for the Internet.

According to a study of companies Sperling's BestPlaces and Norton, the city of Manchester, UK, is the most dangerous for those who surf the Internet. Here are Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Stockholm, Sweden. The "top 10" still has Paris in fourth place, followed by London, Dublin, Milan, Rome, Barcelona and Berlin.

This analysis is based on data on cybercrime, provided by Symantec, a maker of security software, and information about the lifestyle of consumers on the Internet. "In our assessment, we consider a number of factors that can potentially affect safety online," ensures Bert Sperling, founder of Spertling's BestPlaces. Among the data, the company determined the ranking by examining the behavior of many consumers, emphasizing the number PCs and smartphones used per capita, and access to social networks and the use of Wi-Fi hotspots potentially unsafe.

Cybercrime >> Terrorism ?

Cybercrime will become more dangerous than terrorism, FBI defends.

Although the U.S. organization currently has more than a thousand agents to work in fighting cybercrime, the head of the FBI believes that soon, this threat becomes more serious than terrorism and that organizations that spread may be treated organized groups worldwide, including al Qaeda.

So says Robert Mueller, who attended a meeting in San Francisco, United States: "In the very near future it is expected that cyber crime is our biggest threat, bigger than terrorism," said the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Mueller seems to be all a matter of time since, to date, hackers have not yet 'reminded' of making an offensive on the world ladder. If this happens, the game is a certainty that the damages are well over a Sept. 11, for example.

All over the world are increasingly, that as a protest or sometimes for only fun, strong security measures violate several systems and enter without permission. The Anonymous group, for example, is of the most organized and has branches all over the planet.

Megaupload #3

Kim Schmitz: "I am not the king of piracy. I just give online storage space"

The well-known leader of Megaupload, currently on parole, spoke to The Guardian where he asserts that his case is compared to the situation of the United States with weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. 'Dotcom' also says that piracy exists only because the U.S. government has a monopoly.

Kim Schmitz spoke for the first time a media organization, after being released by New Zealand courts, they saw no risk of a possible leakage of the computer programmer. Always well prepared, 'Dotcom', nickname for what is known in Internet attacks the United States and the policies of the issues of protected content "piracy exists only because people do not have access to content all at once. In Europe, a person can only see a movie long after he left the United States. If you could see at the same time, there would be so much piracy, "said the creator of Megaupload. But Schmitz goes much further and even compares U.S. policies to the situation in Iraq: "This is like the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. If you have a political aim in view, all you do and say anything to achieve it, "he says.

In the same statements to The Guardian, Kim Schmitz tries to take the label placed on it ever since: "I am not the king of piracy . I only provide a space for data storage and bandwidth to users," he says.

Remember that Kim Schmitz was released last Feb. 22 after the judge had not put into question the hypothesis of the creator of Megaupload come to escape the the country.

Since 2005, the year that was released Megaupload, it is estimated that Kim has profited nearly 175 million euros with the site.

Bill Gates donates more than $ 750 million for AIDS foundation

The former president of Microsoft , Bill Gates announced he would donate another $ 750 million (about $ 1.28 billion) to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and malaria. These diseases mainly punish the poorest countries in the world.

Gates stepped away from Microsoft for a long time, and now works with his wife in his company Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation , which is dedicated to charity. In fact, it is no longer the richest man in the world because of their donations. And since 2004, the foundation has invested $ 26 billion (U.S. $ 44.38 billion) on philanthropy.

The executive said he will donate 90% of his fortune for these purposes and said he does not want his children to live exclusively on inheritance. Soon, with the death of Steve Jobs, his longtime friend and partner, he has a reason to accelerate the donations - even if not a good friend of Jobs for most of his life.

At 56, Bill Gates realized that old age is coming, especially with the death of his former companion. Now he plans to devote more time to philanthropy. "It reminds me that I need to devote more important things," he said. "My time is running out."

Its foundation invests heavily in creating new drugs against diseases such as malaria. However, the delay for such a drug is ready is large. The expectation is that they are ready at least two decades.

Online Degree Programs Becoming More Popular

For the first time this year, U.S. News and World Report ranked online colleges in their own section among their well-known college and university rankings. This is one of the most evident signs that online education is becoming more popular across the U.S. and all around the world.

There are a number of reasons behind the growing popularity of online colleges. One of the main reasons it that it provides students with the flexibility to take classes on their own schedule. Those who work during the day or take care of children can take classes on evenings and weekends. Many online colleges also offer accelerated options for those who want to complete their degree fast.

Another benefit is the cost. Online colleges tend to cost less than traditional colleges and universities because students don`t have to pay for room and board. Sometimes course materials will be digital as well, which cuts down on the cost of textbooks. And since online college lets students learn in their own homes, it cuts out the money and time spent to commute to classes. Contrary to popular belief, online colleges also offer many of the same financial aid options that can be found at traditional colleges, so that students can still get help to fund their educations.

One of the most popular online degrees is in education. U.S. News even created a specific section devoted to the best online grad schools for education, many of which are digital branches of the nation`s top education programs. There are many types of education degrees, from bachelor`s degrees for those just starting school to master`s degrees for teachers who want to advance in their careers. Online master`s students can even specialize in a specific area, such as special education or educational technology. For more information about getting a master`s degree in teaching, you should visit the site Masters in Teaching.

Earning a degree online from an accredited institution will provide you with a degree that`s just as well recognized as one from a brick-and-mortar institution. You will have challenging coursework, online interaction with teachers and peers, and even practicum experiences such as student teaching that can be organized through a local branch of your online college.

Jan Pierce is a 4th grade teacher who has over 20 years of experience in the classroom. Her interests include educational technology and online learning. She also owns the site Elementary Education Degree for students interested in earning a degree in elementary education.

Megaupload #2

Two of the seven arrested in the process that led to the closure of the Megaupload will be released upon payment of deposit

Justice in New Zealand decided to keep the founder of the prison site storage and file sharing, Kim Schmitz, but accepted the arguments of the chief programmer and the head of marketing, considering that there is no danger of leakage

The four arrested in New Zealand under the case Megaupload

Bram van der Kolk, 29, and Finn Potatoes, 38, were arrested on Thursday last week in Auckland, New Zealand, along with Kim Schmitz (aka Dotcom in the middle like Kim, 38) and Mathias Ortmann, 40, an operation coordinated by the FBI. The North Shore District Court should rule on Friday ordered the release of that suspect.

New Zealand Judge David McNaughton stressed that took into account the concerns of U.S. officials regarding the request for the release of the chief programmer Megaupload, Bram van der Kolk. "However, the possibility of his relapse through a site that is outside the jurisdiction of the United States is a factor that is completely beyond the control of this court," explained the judge McNaughton, quoted on the website of Radio New Zealand.
The court denied bail to the founder of the site, considering that Kim Schmitz could flee the country, although it had been confiscated his passport and credit cards.
The New Zealand justice is also assessing the request for extradition to the United States Schmitz - a complex decision because the main suspect in this case was born in Germany, also has Finnish citizenship and residence in New Zealand and Hong Kong. In addition to these four suspects , were also arrested three other officials Megaupload, since during this week - the webdesigner Bencke Julius, 35 years, the sales manager Sven Echternach, 39, and the team leader of software development, Andrus Nommo, 32 years - all accused of crimes related to violation of copyright and reproduction, extortion and money laundering. According to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice, the Megaupload "generated more than $ 175 million through criminal activities" and caused "more 500 million dollars in damage to the holders of rights. " In response to the closure of Megaupload, the group Anonymous has unleashed an online attack involving more than 5600 people.

The concerted attack had targeted sites of government agencies and the U.S. music industry and film. A "bombing" of service requests that blocked sites such as the FBI itself.

The user simply has to activate the application, record a video or a text message, and choose three friends to confirm his death one day. When the fateful moment happens, and after confirmation of friends, the application automatically publishes the message, in text or video, the user's Wall. More than 800 million people now have a new option to avoid anything to rest by telling anyone.

The official site of the application, the company responsible precisely highlights the importance of this. "It is life after death," he says.       No matter what kind the dog you have, i'm sure this will make you cry of happiness and make sure you give a good hug to your dog at the end of the video because they demonstrate without any problems the love they have for you.

Doberman Thanks Fireman

I just read it a few days ago but i've found that its a bit older than i expected and the photo that was on the news was the one above but i found another info. What do you think?!

One of the most popular Doberman photographs on the web is that of the fireman being licked by a Doberman. The photo really is memorable and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. Now like some things circulating on the internet, the story is not all factual. Thanks to the Snopes website we have the real story behind this photo. (Snopes investigates rumours and urban legends to get the real facts.)

Although the photo is real, the details have been altered a bit. The photo was taken during a house fire in 1999 and shows fireman Jeff Clark being licked by a pregnant, red Doberman named “Cinnamon”. The photo description has people believe that Cinnamon was thanking the firefighter for carrying her out the burning house, saving her life.
What in fact occurred at the time, during the fire there was already one dog outside in the yard and another one ran out of the house on it’s own. At the moment that the firefighter knelt down and removed his mask, Cinnamon walked over and licked him at the most opportune timing for photographer Patrick Schneider. A little bit of heart-warming history preserved forever.
Jeff Clark works for the Charlotte Fire Department. Pregnant, Cinnamon did give birth to five puppies and eventually passed away in 2005. Thanks Cinnamon and Jeff for this warm fuzzy moment, and Patrick for the great shot.

Common Sense (not)

The lack of common sense forced the conductor of the New York Philharmonic interrupted on Thursday evening, a concert hall in New York, the concert was to drive until an iPhone to stop playing.

The orchestra was in the final of 9. Th symphony of Gustav Mahler, when in the first row of an audience which sat about 2700 people, a mobile phone begins to ring with a ring called "marimba," one of those who have installed the iPhone. As the phone kept ringing, the conductor decided to land the baton, stop the concert and back to back claims that the phone was off.

According to Alan Gilbert later told NBC, the sound of the phone was "more than annoying, it was destructive." It was the first time Gilbert stopped a concert. "It's shocking when you do that, simply because we are not waiting for the flow of music would be interrupted. So I said, 'I know it's embarrassing. To turn it off will have to admit that it's your phone. Do this so we can return to music. '"

There are reports of other mobile phones that soared over the orchestra's concerts, but they are usually turned off by protests from some viewers.

I know this is a bit "old" but i remembered it and thought on sharing with you and with it a video of the orchestra for those who never heard it. It's not my style but its important to keep a open mind inf life, therefore to all kind of music.

Internet = (new)drug ?

"Excessive" internet has the same effects in the brain that the consumption of drugs and alcohol.

The conclusion is the result of a study by Chinese scientists monitored the brain activity of 35 people. The changes that occur in the brain are identical. Of the 35 men and women studied, 17 reported being addicted to the Internet. The cases of addiction had differences in white matter , the part of the brain's nerve fibers in relation to non-addicts: changes are similar to cases of people who have drug or alcohol addiction .

The results were obtained by MRI that revealed changes in parts of the brain related to emotions and self-control . "The results also indicate that Internet addiction may share neurological and psychological mechanisms with other types of addictions and disorders of impulse control," said study leader Hao Law, Academy of Sciences of China.

The study was funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China and opens a new chapter in studies of effects between consumption and changes in internet users. Although the sample is relatively small , the results have some scientific validation and may be the step to study a broader spectrum.

That being said, what do you think?!
